1. Select the correct onion. It should be dense, rounded in shape, without traces of rot. The root cup ("bottom" of the bulb) should be firm and well formed.
2. Leave the bulbs in a dark, cool place for about ten days, until the first seedlings appear.
3. Place the sprouted bulbs in the soil, with the green shoots on the surface.
4. Water so that the soil remains moist.
